In a heartfelt statement filled with both grief and deep appreciation, Ousmane Sonko reflected on the departure of a revered religious mentor who consistently offered him solace and backing, particularly during challenging periods.
“Indeed, we belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return. A father, a friend, a confidant, and a guide has now departed,” he articulated, highlighting the depth of his personal loss.
The prominent political figure specifically recalled the unwavering support he received from the late marabout, which included invaluable counsel, personal prayers, and the collective supplications of thousands of disciples across various Daara.
“He stood by me during my most trying times, extending his compassion, wisdom, and the prayers of countless followers from different Daara,” Ousmane Sonko recounted, emphasizing the spiritual leader’s constant presence.
Paying homage to the exceptional spiritual and human qualities of the deceased, the Pastef president characterized Serigne Cheikh Saliou Mbacké as a “champion of diligence and spirituality” and the revered “master of Khelcom.”
Ousmane Sonko concluded his tribute by offering earnest prayers for the eternal repose of Serigne Cheikh Saliou Mbacké’s soul.
“Oh Allah, envelop him in Your boundless mercy and open for him the pathways to Your everlasting paradise,” he solemnly prayed.
