French prime minister’s diplomatic mission strengthens ties with Morocco
French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu arrived in Rabat on Wednesday for a two-day working visit aimed at deepening strategic cooperation between France and Morocco. The trip marks the first international mission for the French leader since assuming office in late 2025.
The visit follows a period of renewed diplomatic engagement between Paris and Rabat, after years of strained relations marked by espionage allegations and visa disputes. French President Emmanuel Macron’s landmark recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Western Sahara in summer 2024 served as a turning point, leading to a historic state visit to Morocco in October of that year.
