Chad has been chosen as the guest of honor for the 54th edition of Cameroon’s National Celebration, a major event set for May 20, 2026, in Yaoundé and across the country.
The festivities, widely known as the Unity Day, honor Cameroon’s national cohesion and remain one of the most significant moments in the country’s civic and patriotic calendar. This year’s theme, “National Unity: The Foundation of Our Defense and the Bedrock of Cameroon’s Growth”, underscores the central role of cohesion in the nation’s progress.
In Yaoundé, the main event will feature a grand civilian and military parade, showcasing the country’s defense and security forces, school groups, youth organizations, and representatives from diverse sectors of society. Similar events will unfold in every region of Cameroon.
The Ministry of Youth has introduced several groundbreaking initiatives for this 54th anniversary. Highlights include a nationwide cultural diversity carnival and an expanded week-long celebration designed to bring the festivities closer to local communities.
