Morocco Mauritania military delegation strengthens strategic ties in Nouakchott visit

During a landmark visit to Mauritania, General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Zone, held a pivotal meeting with President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghezouani in Nouakchott. The encounter, which took place on a recent Tuesday, underscored the depth of defense relations between the two nations.

The Moroccan delegation, received by Mauritania’s top leadership, also paid a courtesy call to the Ministry of Defense, where Minister Hanana Ould Sidi presented General Berrid with the Commander Grade of the National Order of Merit on behalf of the Mauritanian President.

Later that day, the Moroccan Inspector General and Mauritania’s Chief of Staff co-chaired the sixth session of the Joint Military Commission. Discussions centered on the robust outcomes of bilateral military collaboration, with both sides acknowledging the tangible benefits of this enduring partnership.

In a joint statement, military officials highlighted the strategic model this cooperation embodies, celebrating its role in enhancing regional security and stability. The visit served as a testament to the unwavering commitment of both nations to deepen their defense alliance.
