Moroccan military delegation wraps up high-level visit in Mauritania

Led by General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Commander of the Southern Zone, a Moroccan military delegation concluded a significant working visit to Mauritania on Tuesday. The high-ranking officer was received at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott by President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghezouani, in an official ceremony attended by Morocco’s Ambassador to Mauritania, Hamid Chabar.

During the same day, General Berrid paid an official visit to the Ministry of Defense, where he engaged in constructive discussions with Defense Minister Hanana Ould Sidi. In a symbolic gesture, the Mauritanian minister presented the Moroccan general with the National Order of Merit (Commander Grade) on behalf of the President of the Republic, recognizing his contributions and reinforcing bilateral ties.

Later in the afternoon, General Berrid and Mauritania’s Chief of Staff co-chaired the sixth session of the Joint Military Commission. Both sides highlighted the exceptional progress in military cooperation between the two nations, underscoring the tangible results achieved through their strategic partnership. They reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration across defense and security domains.
