Morocco and Mali launch vocational training complex in Bamako

A state-of-the-art vocational training complex has been officially handed over to the Malian authorities in Bamako. The Mohammed VI Complex for Vocational Training in Building and Public Works, as well as hospitality, tourism, and catering, was commissioned by King Mohammed VI and developed by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Sustainable Development.

The facility spans over 5,200 square meters and is designed to address the pressing need for skilled labor in Mali’s key economic sectors. With a focus on practical learning, the center integrates theoretical instruction with hands-on experience to ensure graduates are job-ready.

Training opportunities for 1,000 youth annually

Upon full operation, the complex will accommodate up to 1,000 trainees per year across 21 specialized programs. The curriculum includes:

• 12 programs in building and public works (BTP), covering essential trades such as masonry, plumbing, and electrical installation.
• 9 programs in hospitality, tourism, and catering, preparing students for careers in hotels, restaurants, and tourism services.

The initiative aligns with Mali’s national development priorities by strengthening human capital and boosting employability in sectors critical to economic growth.

A model of South-South cooperation

During an official visit to the complex, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, emphasized that this project reflects the King’s commitment to African youth. He described it as a tangible expression of South-South solidarity, built on knowledge sharing and sustainable capacity-building across the continent.

Malian Minister of National Entrepreneurship, Employment, and Vocational Training, Oumou Sall Seck, conveyed the gratitude of President Assimi Goïta to King Mohammed VI. She highlighted the project’s strategic importance for Mali, stating it fulfills a vital need to enhance local expertise and drive economic and social progress.

The inauguration of this complex marks a significant milestone in Morocco-Mali bilateral relations, reinforcing a partnership rooted in shared values and mutual support.
