Women of lake province stand united against Boko Haram threats

In the Lake province, where recent Boko Haram attacks have left communities on edge, women have taken a bold stand of solidarity. On Friday, May 22, 2026, a united front of women gathered in Baga-Sola under the umbrella of the Provincial Women’s Network, pledging unwavering support for the country’s defense and security forces while urging collective resilience against the looming terrorist threat.

The delegation, led by Ms. Achta Adoum Abdoulaye, Chair of the Provincial Women’s Network, met with the Government Delegate to the Lake Province, General Saleh Haggar Tidjani, at the Baga-Sola headquarters. Their visit carried a single, powerful message: a renewed commitment to stand by the military and security personnel battling Boko Haram on the frontlines.

Ms. Achta Adoum Abdoulaye took the floor to commend the tireless efforts of both administrative and military authorities in safeguarding the province’s security and stability. She forcefully condemned the recent terrorist assaults that have claimed the lives of several soldiers, extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and the nation as a whole.

To turn words into action, the women’s delegation presented a donation of essential food supplies to the troops engaged in counterterrorism operations. Their gesture underscored the depth of community support for those risking their lives to protect the region.

In response, General Saleh Haggar Tidjani hailed the women’s initiative as a true display of patriotism, emphasizing the critical role women play in fostering community resilience, social cohesion, and the fight against violent extremism.
