The president of the National Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, reacted on Thursday to the Constitutional Council’s decision declaring unconstitutional the constitutional reform law voted by lawmakers. The leader of Pastef acknowledged the ‘Seven Wise Men’ ruling, saying it ‘imposes on all!’
«Beyond the comments and opinions that may be sparked by the reasons behind the decision, one thing remains: this decision imposes on all! Done deal!» Sonko declared in a post.
For the president of the National Assembly, this sequence reminds us that «when institutions play their role, no crisis can arise»
Sonko also reaffirmed the parliament’s willingness to continue exercising its functions. «The National Assembly will exercise its full mandate: laws will be passed or rejected to honor our commitments to this brave and worthy people», he assured.
