Morocco joins Gaza stabilization force with landmark agreement
Morocco formalizes its commitment to regional security by signing a technical agreement for the deployment of military and humanitarian personnel in Gaza under the International Stabilization Force framework.
High-level discussions in Rabat pave way for military cooperation
In a significant development for Middle Eastern security, Moroccan military leadership received senior officials from the Gaza Peace Council at the Defense Administration headquarters in Rabat. The meeting brought together key figures including General Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Foreign Minister and President of the Al Qods Committee, alongside Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration.
General Corps Commanders, including the Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and the Commander of the Southern Zone, as well as the Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie, were also present during the discussions.
Technical framework signed for operational deployment
The landmark agreement formalizes Morocco’s participation in the International Stabilization Force for Gaza, with the signed document establishing the technical and operational framework for Moroccan contributions. The agreement was signed during the meeting between Moroccan officials and the Gaza Peace Council delegation, which included representatives from the International Stabilization Force Command.
This initiative aligns with the Kingdom’s founding membership in the Gaza Peace Council, as outlined in the high royal directives announced during the council’s inaugural meeting in Washington under the chairmanship of former U.S. President Donald Trump.
Morocco emphasizes decades of peacekeeping experience
During the negotiations, Moroccan representatives highlighted the Kingdom’s extensive experience in United Nations peacekeeping operations. The delegation underscored Morocco’s long-standing commitment to international peace and security, emphasizing the transformative impact of Royal initiatives such as regional integration projects that foster both social progress and regional stability.
Contributions to the stabilization force include:
- Deployment of senior Royal Armed Forces officers to the ISF joint command
- Provision of Royal Gendarmerie personnel
- Establishment of a mobile military field hospital
- Technical advisors from the National Security Directorate
Gaza Peace Council commends Morocco’s proactive role
Representatives from the Gaza Peace Council and ISF Command warmly welcomed Morocco’s participation in the stabilization initiative. The international partners praised the Kingdom’s strategic contributions, which include both security personnel and humanitarian infrastructure, as a crucial step toward long-term peace and stability in the region.
Following extensive discussions, both parties concluded the meeting by signing the participation agreement, which establishes the legal foundation for Morocco’s technical and operational involvement in the stabilization efforts.
