Chelsea secures second-most expensive Premier League signing with Rogers

Chelsea Football Club has finalized the acquisition of English forward Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, marking a significant coup for the Blues ahead of the new season. The 23-year-old, widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s most promising attacking talents, has inked a long-term deal keeping him at Stamford Bridge until 2033.

Under Xabi Alonso’s leadership, Rogers will bring a wealth of experience and creativity to Chelsea’s offensive line, following an impressive stint at Aston Villa where he contributed to 40 goals in 85 Premier League appearances. His impact was instrumental in securing a fourth-place finish for the Villans last season and lifting the Europa League trophy.

Rogers’ international credentials are equally notable. Since his debut for the England national team in November 2024, he has become a key figure for the Three Lions, featuring in 22 matches and playing a pivotal role in England’s third-place finish at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The transfer deal, valued at €117 million, makes Rogers Chelsea’s second-most expensive signing in Premier League history, trailing only Alexander Isak’s move from Newcastle to Liverpool last summer for £125 million. This acquisition underscores Chelsea’s ambition to bolster their squad with elite talent, outmaneuvering rivals like Arsenal in a fiercely competitive market.

The club celebrated the signing with a promotional video on their official platform, emphasizing Rogers’ decision to join Chelsea amid intense competition from other top clubs.
