Cameroon National Assembly swears in over 20 senior officials appointed by President Théodore Datouo
During a ceremony at the National Assembly in Yaoundé, Secretary-General André Noël Essian officially installed more than 20 senior officials whose appointments were confirmed by President Théodore Datouo.
At Cameroon’s National Assembly, Secretary-General André Noël Essian formally installed more than 20 senior officials appointed by President Théodore Datouo.
Following the opening of the second ordinary session of the 2026 legislative year, Secretary-General André Noël Essian led the swearing-in ceremony for over 20 top officials whose appointments were confirmed by President Théodore Datouo.
These high-ranking appointees will now serve within the National Assembly’s Quaestorship and General Secretariat departments. The ceremony marked their official entry into their respective roles within Cameroon’s legislative body.
Since assuming the role of National Assembly President in March, Deputy Théodore Datouo has overseen numerous appointments. However, these decisions have sparked controversy, with critics arguing that the appointments failed to reflect regional balance within the Assembly.
