Yan diomande set to join liverpool as psg faces transfer hurdles

Listen now3 min

Just a year after joining RB Leipzig from Léganes, Yan Diomande appears destined for another move. The young Ivorian winger, who has already showcased his talent with 13 goals and 10 assists across all competitions in the 2025-2026 season, is generating significant interest, particularly from Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.

Yan Diomande in action

According to recent reports, Liverpool has already reached a preliminary agreement with the 19-year-old international, who boasts 12 caps for the Ivory Coast. The Reds are reportedly seeking a successor to the departing Mohamed Salah, and Diomande fits their profile as a dynamic attacker with room for growth. However, the deal hinges on the club’s ability to meet RB Leipzig’s hefty release clause, set at a staggering €120 million.

Contract talks and manager involvement

The transfer saga has drawn attention from multiple angles, including the potential influence of Liverpool’s manager. While speculation suggests Luis Enrique has taken a hands-on role in pursuing Diomande, the final outcome remains uncertain. The Ivorian’s current contract with RB Leipzig runs until 2030, making his release a costly affair for any interested club.

Player and coach weigh in on the situation

After Ivory Coast’s victory over Equatorial Guinea (1-0) at the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Emerse Faé, the national team coach, addressed questions about Diomande’s future. He noted the shifting narratives, saying, “When we were in France preparing, journalists said he would sign for Paris Saint-Germain. Now, upon arriving in the U.S., they claim he’s heading to Liverpool. We’ll see. My focus is on the World Cup, and after that, he’ll make the best decision for his career.”

Diomande himself has kept his cards close to his chest, deferring to his agents while emphasizing the importance of the tournament. “My agents are handling it,” he stated. “Right now, I’m fully focused on the World Cup. It’s not every day you get this opportunity—it’s every four years. I’m making the most of it. The rest will sort itself out.”
