The Collectif des descendants de Serigne Touba has formally lodged a legal complaint against prominent political figure Ousmane Sonko, citing allegations of false statements and defamation. Legal representation for the plaintiffs is being handled by Me Aboubacry Barro, as confirmed by spokesperson Babacar Malick on a public platform.
The legal action follows a series of controversial remarks made by Sonko, in which he alleged that substantial financial resources had been channeled to Touba, asserting that this money originated from state coffers and constituted embezzled funds. He further claimed that these financial flows were not intended for legitimate purposes but were instead directed toward meeting political demands.
