With no Champions League football next season, Olympique de Marseille must come to terms with losing key assets, including Mason Greenwood. While AS Roma has shown interest in the English striker, Fenerbahçe is determined to take the lead in this transfer saga. A fresh offer could arrive within days.

The question is no longer whether Mason Greenwood will leave OM during the summer transfer window, but when. The English forward holds the highest market value in the squad and must be sold to help the Marseille club balance its books. AS Roma, Atlético Madrid, Fenerbahçe, and Al-Hilal are among the possible destinations. However, OM has no intention of selling Mason Greenwood on the cheap, especially since Manchester United will receive 40% of the transfer fee.
Fenerbahçe to raise the stakes
Fenerbahçe has already tabled a €35 million offer to OM, which was rejected. That has not discouraged the Turkish side, which could submit a new bid before the end of the month. OM is pushing for a swift resolution, as the DNCG has requested additional documents from the club before making its decision. Meanwhile, AS Roma has not yet given up.
What fee for Greenwood’s transfer?
The key question now is how much OM will eventually pocket, with time running short. A few days ago, a journalist reflected on the figures being mentioned: “Six months ago, when Greenwood was setting the world alight, we were hearing much higher numbers. Now, with Marseille’s end-of-season slump and his own dip in form, is €50 million realistic for OM? Looking at what other players go for in Europe today, a striker capable of scoring around 20 goals per season in Ligue 1 — that’s a bargain. If I were OM, I’d have inserted a clause raising the price to €60 million as of July 1, and I’d wait a bit longer to find a buyer.”
