Côte d’Ivoire’s JOURIE 2026 kicks off with digital education transformation focus

Abidjan, July 21, 2026 — The Journées Ouvertes pour l’Utilisation de la Recherche et de l’Innovation en Éducation (JOURIE 2026) have launched today at the École nationale supérieure de statistique et d’économie appliquée (ENSEA), organized by the Ministry of National Education, Literacy and Technical Training (MENAET). The event, running until July 22, 2026, centers on the theme: «Transforming education through digital innovation: sustainable solutions for quality schooling.»

These open days aim to foster a culture of research and leverage scientific findings alongside pedagogical innovations to enhance Côte d’Ivoire’s education system by promoting digital solutions. The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to integrating evidence-based policies into educational reforms, ensuring decisions are grounded in reliable data and rigorous analysis.

Dr. Inza Meité, Director of Studies, Planning, and Statistics (DESPS), highlighted that JOURIE 2026 provides a collaborative platform to explore how scientific research and technological advancements can reshape schools, colleges, high schools, and universities. He emphasized the event’s role in bridging the gap between academic research and educational policy, ensuring public decisions align with actionable insights.

«This edition of JOURIE is a unique opportunity to showcase groundbreaking research, share experimental projects, explore cutting-edge technological solutions, and foster dialogue among researchers, educators, policymakers, and innovators on systemic challenges,» Meité stated. He also reiterated the ministry’s vision to position digital technology as a catalyst for quality, equity, and performance in education, making science, innovation, and digital tools pillars of an inclusive and high-quality learning experience.

At the official opening, Mr. Kouadio Kouman, Technical Advisor to the Minister, delivered remarks on behalf of the Minister of National Education, Literacy, and Technical Training. He noted that JOURIE 2026 reflects the government’s resolve to anchor educational reforms in evidence-based practices, aligned with international standards. Kouman described digital technology not merely as a tool but as a strategic lever—an accelerator for transformation that unlocks opportunities to build a more equitable, inclusive, and high-performing Ivorian school system.

The event brings together a diverse assembly of stakeholders, including researchers, teachers, innovators, public officials, technical and financial partners, and sectoral actors. Discussions will span governance, innovation, teacher training, infrastructure, and inclusion, all through the lens of digital education’s transformative potential.
