Chad and Burkina Faso join forces to tackle terror threat
The escalating security challenges across the Sahel have pushed Chad and Burkina Faso to formalize a new chapter in their defense collaboration. A high-level delegation from Chad’s Ministry of Public Security and Immigration, led by Police Commissioner Mahamat Ibrahim Man Man, arrived in Ouagadougou yesterday for critical discussions with Burkina Faso’s Minister of Security, Mahamadou Sana.
During the meeting, both sides explored ways to deepen joint efforts in counter-terrorism operations, as outlined in a joint statement released by Chad’s Ministry of Public Security. The discussions marked a pivotal step toward establishing a robust bilateral framework to address shared threats.
Speaking after the talks, Mbaï-Naïssem Isaac Chamir, Legal Advisor to Chad’s Minister of Public Security and a member of the delegation, emphasized the significance of the encounter. “This meeting serves as a precursor to a high-level joint commission that will shape future security cooperation between our nations against terrorism,” he stated. “Our shared history and operational experiences are invaluable in crafting strategies that align with ground realities.”
Chamir also praised the warm hospitality extended by Burkina Faso, expressing hope that the momentum will lead to a lasting, mutually beneficial security partnership—one that upholds the sovereignty of each nation. The joint statement confirmed that this new alliance will be further solidified through upcoming bilateral cooperation milestones, particularly within the framework of the planned joint commission.
