In an interview on Tuesday, june 23, 2026, the national president of the Nouveau Mouvement Populaire (NMP) highlights the legendary volatility of Sunday’s debater on Info TV.

Cameroonian politician Banda Kani is furious with tribal agitator Elimbi Lobe. In an interview published on his page this Tuesday, june 23, 2026, the NMP leader expressed his exasperation after Elimbi Lobe, on Info TV (a green-screen television station broadcasting from Yaoundé, Cameroon), referred to nationalist Ernest Ouandié as a “bandit.”

“By calling Ouandié a ‘bandit,’ Elimbi Lobe has disgraced himself,” declared pan-Africanist Banda Kani. According to him, Elimbi Lobe will never become a strong political leader. “He has reduced himself to a good-for-nothing. He has turned into a political player who will never achieve national stature in this country. He has become a small neighborhood politician, a canton-level player, merely strategizing to become a member of parliament,” Banda Kani added.

When he was with the SDF, could he have made such statements?

Drawing on history, Banda Kani condemned Elimbi Lobe’s inconsistency, contrasting it with his different rhetoric when he was a member of the Social Democratic Front (SDF). “He is pursuing an electoral strategy. Look at his history. Read his own statements from 2011 when he was with the SDF. He praised national integration. He even glorified the role of the Bamiléké in nation-building, claiming that his best friend was a Bamiléké to whom he wanted to give his son’s name,” Banda Kani continued.

“In 2015, he was denouncing tribalists. When he was with the SDF, could he have made such statements? The party would have stopped him. You are dealing with a small politician who thinks that if he is elected as a deputy, his political career will reach its peak,” Banda Kani concluded.
