Ayyoub Bouaddi leans toward PSG over Arsenal for transfer

With his sights set on the 2026 FIFA World Cup, 18-year-old midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi is emerging as one of the most talked-about talents in European football this summer. Despite Lille OSC’s determination to retain him, his future could take a dramatic turn depending on the offers received. Among the clubs vying for his signature, Paris Saint-Germain stands out as his preferred destination, though Arsenal is also making a strong play for his services.

Lille’s president, Olivier Létang, recently emphasized the club’s commitment to keeping Bouaddi, revealing that the player’s contract has been extended until June 2029. While Lille is open to discussions, particularly if a financially irresistible bid materializes, they remain firm on their valuation. « We’ll talk with Ayyoub directly when the time comes, but any move would require an extraordinary sum, » Létang stated. « Above €50 million? Absolutely not—that’s far from sufficient. We’re not at the level where letting him go would be an option. »

Arsenal makes a bold move, but PSG remains Bouaddi’s top choice

In a fierce competition for the young Moroccan talent, Arsenal has been actively pursuing Bouaddi since early 2025, positioning him as a key target to bolster their midfield under Mikel Arteta. According to insider reports, the London club has maintained regular contact with Bouaddi’s representatives, even presenting him with a promising role within the squad. Yet, despite Arsenal’s efforts, the teenager’s preference appears to lie elsewhere.

Why PSG could seal the deal

Bouaddi’s inclination toward Paris Saint-Germain isn’t just a fleeting preference—it reflects a deeper alignment with the club’s ambitions and his own career trajectory. PSG, a dominant force in Ligue 1, has the financial muscle and star power to offer a pathway to top-tier competition, including the UEFA Champions League. For a player on the brink of breaking into the global spotlight, the allure of joining a club with such a high-profile stage is undeniable.

Lille’s red line: valuation and long-term vision

While Lille’s willingness to entertain offers is conditional, their stance is clear: Bouaddi is not for sale at a bargain price. The club’s leadership has drawn a bold line in the sand, signaling that only a record-breaking bid—one that reflects his true market value—could sway their decision. As the transfer window heats up, all eyes will be on Lille’s resolve and whether an offer arises that meets their lofty expectations.
