Algeria and Niger strengthen energy ties with Jet A1 deliveries

Algeria and Niger have taken a significant step forward in regional energy integration.

Through a strengthened partnership between Algeria’s leading hydrocarbons company Sonatrach and Niger’s state-owned Sonidep, both nations are ushering in a new era of trade and strategic collaboration across the Sahel.

First-ever Jet A1 fuel shipments from Adrar refinery

As concrete proof of this commercial momentum, Sonatrach has finalised the first deliveries of aviation fuel Jet A1 to Niger. These shipments, dispatched from the Adrar refinery (RA1D), mark the activation of a purchase and sale agreement between Sonatrach and Sonidep.

This inaugural supply under the contract signals the full implementation of bilateral accords and underscores Algeria’s commitment to providing consistent petroleum product deliveries to Sahelian neighbors.

Joint marketing of Niger’s ‘Meleck’ crude oil in Bénin

Beyond fuel supplies, the cooperation extends to international commercialisation. A pivotal moment was reached at the Sèmè oil terminal in Bénin, where Sonatrach and Sonidep jointly oversaw the loading of the first-ever cargo of Niger’s ‘Meleck’ crude oil for export.
