Yaoundé’s potable water network reconfiguration project officially kicked off this Thursday at Minkoameyos. The initiative seeks to dramatically improve water access for residents across multiple districts in the capital and surrounding areas.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place at the Minkoameyos town hall esplanade, presided over by the Minister of Water and Energy, Gaston Eloundou Essomba. Key figures in attendance included the Director-General of Camwater, Dr. Blaise Moussa, government officials, diplomatic corps representatives, local elected leaders, and civil society stakeholders.

Spearheaded by President Paul Biya, this transformative project aims to enhance reliable water supply for communities in Yaoundé, Soa, Akak, Mfou, Bikok, and Mbankomo—particularly those currently underserved or plagued by frequent supply disruptions.

Non-domestic users, including industries, schools, and hospitals, are also set to benefit significantly from the initiative.

Minister Gaston Eloundou Essomba called for seamless collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution. Meanwhile, Camwater’s Director-General assured full institutional support to address any challenges that could hinder the project’s successful completion, emphasizing the growing needs of Yaoundé’s residents.
