Amin Mohamed has been chosen to officiate the high-stakes Argentina vs Austria World Cup match.

The Egyptian referee Amin Mohamed will take charge of the World Cup 2026 second-round fixture between Argentina and Austria, kicking off on June 22, 2026, at 5:00 PM local time in Dallas, Texas. He will be supported by his compatriots Mahmoud Abouelregal and Ahmed Hossam Taja as assistant referees, while Spain’s Alejandro Hernández and Diego Sánchez will serve as fourth official and reserve assistant referee respectively.

Amin Mohamed has already demonstrated his capabilities during this World Cup by officiating the Group Stage match between South Korea and the Czech Republic, earning praise for his seamless handling of the game. This strong performance has now earned him the FIFA’s trust to oversee a pivotal second-round encounter.

The Egyptian official began his professional journey in Egypt’s top division in 2013 before making his international debut in 2018 during an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Uganda and Lesotho. Since then, he has steadily climbed the ranks, officiating in major continental tournaments including the CAF Champions League, the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals, and two matches in the 2025 edition of the competition.
