The city of Kpalimé is in shock following the death of a student from Zomayi High School, which occurred after the release of the BAC 1 exam results for the 2026 session.
The young girl, after learning she had failed the BAC 1 2026 exam upon checking her results on Sunday, June 7, later died by hanging.
Her death has caused deep sorrow within the educational community, among classmates, and among residents of the area.
This tragedy renews concerns about the psychological pressure related to school exams and the need for better support for students in distress.
Several education stakeholders remind that failing an exam does not determine a student’s future and call for strengthening listening and psychological support for young people.
