In Kpomé, Togo, a significant stride has been made in tackling the pervasive challenge of youth unemployment. Fifty aspiring young entrepreneurs in the Maritime region have just received crucial equipment, enabling them to immediately launch their agricultural and livestock enterprises. This initiative reflects a strategic shift by authorities, focusing on transforming trained individuals into active rural entrepreneurs.
The pivotal equipment distribution, which took place on July 20 under the patronage of Dotsè Medjina, the Secretary General of the Maritime Region Governorate, culminates an intensive three-month professional training program. This comprehensive course was specifically designed to equip participants with skills for high-potential agropastoral sectors.
Equipping for immediate impact: beyond training
A persistent challenge in many youth integration programs lies in the post-training phase. Often, young people acquire valuable skills but lack the essential initial capital required to launch their own ventures.
In Kpomé, this conventional approach has been innovatively reversed. Upon completing their training, beneficiaries now depart with a comprehensive installation kit. This vital package includes power tillers, motor pumps, sprayers, quality seeds, fertilizers, electronic scales, rolls of fencing, advanced irrigation and water storage systems, sturdy wheelbarrows, and necessary construction materials.
The overarching objective is to empower these emerging producers to commence their operations immediately, removing the barrier of waiting for additional funding.
Agropastoral sector: a new engine for rural job creation
The fifty beneficiaries have undergone specialized preparation for various fields deemed strategic for robust rural development. The program’s curriculum encompasses key areas such as market gardening, poultry farming, the breeding of small ruminants, and pig production.
By equipping these young individuals with appropriate tools and resources, public authorities aim not only to foster their financial autonomy but also to significantly strengthen local production capabilities and inject dynamism into rural economies across Togo.
Strategic investment: emphasizing diligence and accountability
During the recent ceremony, Dotsè Medjina strongly reiterated the significant responsibility that accompanies this equipment provision. He urged all beneficiaries to utilize their new tools with utmost diligence, stressing that this is crucial for ensuring the profitability and long-term sustainability of their individual enterprises.

This impactful initiative is an integral component of the “Training-Skills and Professional Integration Support” project, originally launched in 2025 by the Agence nationale pour l’emploi (ANPE).
