N’Djamena recently hosted a pivotal three-day training workshop focused on transforming the country’s terrestrial freight sector through digital innovation. Organized by the Bureau National du Fret Terrestre (BNFT) and held at the Kempinski Hotel, the event brought together control agents and representatives from N’Djamena and Mayo-Kebbi regions to explore cutting-edge digital tools designed to modernize land transport operations across Chad.
During the closing ceremony, Brahim Mahamat Adoum, chair of the steering committee, highlighted the participants’ active engagement throughout the program. He emphasized that the workshop covered essential modules on digital technologies and automated freight management systems. Key topics included digital interface navigation, cargo declaration processes, transporter record management, organizational structure configuration, and system setup. Organizers noted that these innovations will significantly enhance administrative efficiency and improve real-time operational monitoring across Chad’s transport network.
A new era for freight documentation
Saleh Youssouf Erda, Director-General of the steering committee, underscored that this initiative represents a fundamental shift from paper-based processes to a fully digitalized freight management system. The newly launched e-BNFT platform now enables instant issuance and verification of critical transport documents such as the Mandatory Vehicle Letter and Axle Tax. The cloud-based system processes goods transport documents seamlessly without physical contact, accessible via computers or mobile devices.
The Director-General emphasized that this digital transformation will not only secure state revenue streams but also generate reliable statistical data to support national economic policymaking. He pointed out that this modernization effort aligns with the broader administrative reform vision championed by President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno.
Building capacity for digital adoption
In his closing remarks, Saleh Youssouf Erda urged all participants to actively implement their newly acquired skills and share their knowledge with colleagues who couldn’t attend the workshop. The training was conducted in partnership with TRADELINK SOLUTIONS and SERVOO, whose technical expertise was instrumental in delivering the program’s content.
The initiative marks a significant milestone in Chad’s journey toward digitalizing its transport sector, promising improved service delivery, enhanced transparency, and more efficient resource management for the nation’s freight industry.
