Sonko mourns the passing of serigne abdou bakhi mbacké

The President of the National Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, conveyed his heartfelt condolences following the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the revered Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo, which occurred on July 9, 2026.

In a heartfelt message posted on Facebook, Sonko expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of the influential religious leader. He extended his sincerest sympathies to the deceased’s family, the Khalife général of the Mouride brotherhood, and the entire Senegalese people.

« I was deeply moved and saddened to learn of the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the esteemed Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo, » Sonko wrote in his tribute. He further reminisced about his encounters with the late guide during visits to Guinguinéo, recalling the warmth, kindness, and hospitality that left a lasting impression on him.

« During these visits, he consistently demonstrated exceptional affection, a welcoming spirit, and benevolence that deeply touched us, » Sonko added. In this time of mourning, he offered his most sincere condolences to the family, the Mouride community, and all Senegalese citizens.

Sonko concluded his message with a prayer, saying, « May Allah, in His boundless mercy, grant him forgiveness and welcome him into His eternal paradise. »
