Following their second straight Champions League title, PSG is gearing up for a busy summer transfer window. The Parisian side aims to refresh Luis Enrique’s squad and has pursued multiple targets, among them Mateus Fernandes. However, a Premier League powerhouse now appears to have the edge in signing the 21-year-old attacking midfielder.

After securing their second consecutive Champions League title, PSG intends to be aggressive in the transfer market this summer. The club wants to revitalize Luis Enrique’s squad ahead of the new season and has opened multiple lines of negotiation. Mateus Fernandes has been a recurring name in recent weeks. The Portuguese international, omitted from the 2026 World Cup squad, is expected to depart West Ham. However, PSG may not be in a favorable position to acquire the 21-year-old attacking midfielder.

Manchester United in pole position for Mateus Fernandes

Reports indicate that Manchester United currently holds the advantage in the race for Mateus Fernandes. The West Ham midfielder reportedly favors a move to Old Trafford, even amid interest from Tottenham and other clubs. As a result, PSG appears to be losing ground to the Premier League heavyweight.

PSG moves forward on other deals

Meanwhile, PSG is progressing on other fronts. The Parisian club is reportedly well-placed to sign Yan Diomandé and Maghnes Akliouche. The Ivory Coast international from RB Leipzig and the AS Monaco attacking midfielder are both said to be keen on joining the reigning double European champions.
