Niger strengthens digital ties with Mali at senuma 2026

Bamako, 31 July 2026 — Digital transformation is reshaping governance and economic exchanges across the Sahel. This week, Niger steps into the spotlight as a key participant in the fourth edition of Mali’s Digital Week (SENUMA), running from 28 July to 1 August 2026.

The event, themed “Digital ecosystem in Mali: status, challenges and prospects for successful digital transformation”, brings together policymakers, tech innovators, and industry leaders to assess the evolving digital landscape across public administration, private enterprise, and citizen-facing services.

Strategic partnership deepens within the AES

Niger’s involvement is far from ceremonial. As part of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), both Niger and Mali are leveraging this platform to align their digital strategies—a move increasingly vital for national development and technological sovereignty in the face of regional challenges.

A cross-sector delegation takes centre stage

Mali has honoured Niger and Burkina Faso as guest countries for this edition. The Nigerien delegation includes high-level representatives from key institutions: the Ministry of Communication and Digital Technologies, the National Agency for the Information Society (ANSI), the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (ARCEP), Niger Post, and the National School of Electronic Communications and Postal Services (ESCEP-Niger).

This broad representation underscores a holistic approach to digital cooperation—spanning regulation, training, infrastructure, and service delivery—all converging to drive national and regional progress.
