Morocco has firmly established itself as a leading political, economic, and social force, not only across Africa and the Arab world but also throughout the Mediterranean basin and globally. This assessment comes from Anissa Saysay, a German politician of Moroccan descent and member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), the party led by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

In a recent interview marking Throne Day, Saysay highlighted how Morocco’s modernization strides have transformed it into a modern and stable nation under the visionary guidance of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. Its international recognition, she noted, stems from long-term strategic planning and substantial investments in infrastructure and economic independence.

The Kingdom’s progress is visible in its world-class ports, high-speed rail network, airports, industrial and technological hubs, and thriving automotive and aerospace sectors. These advancements reflect Morocco’s meticulous approach to shaping its future, she emphasized.

Saysay also underscored Morocco’s unique position as a bridge between Europe, Africa, and the Arab world, leveraging its geographic and cultural strengths to strengthen its political and economic influence. The country’s commitment to energy transition has further solidified its role as a pioneer in Africa and a key partner for Europe in sustainable development, she added.

On the social front, she praised Morocco’s strides in social protection, healthcare access, education, and women’s rights. The Kingdom’s progress in these areas demonstrates its holistic approach to nation-building, she noted.

Discussing Morocco-Germany relations, Saysay described them as increasingly robust, with Morocco serving as a reliable partner for Germany in North Africa. The two nations share complementary strengths: Morocco’s stability and strategic location between Europe and Africa make it an ideal ally, while Germany contributes advanced technology, industrial expertise, vocational training, research, climate protection, and sustainable development initiatives.

For this partnership to thrive, Saysay stressed the need for an equal and respectful collaboration rooted in mutual interests and open political dialogue. She highlighted the vital role of binational individuals in fostering investment, knowledge exchange, educational partnerships, scientific cooperation, and social engagement. Their dual perspectives, she argued, combine German institutional experience and technological expertise with Moroccan creativity, dynamism, hospitality, and regional networks.
