Mali army claims heavy losses inflicted on armed groups in northern operations

The Malian Armed Forces (FAMA) announced Thursday that coordinated military operations, conducted with allied partners, resulted in the elimination of nearly 100 armed fighters in the regions of Anfif and Tabrachat, located in northern Mali.

In an official statement, the army detailed that the operations specifically targeted members of the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM) and the Azawad Liberation Front (FLA). The operations included 13 precision airstrikes, which also led to the destruction of six combat vehicles and a pickup truck.

According to the army, the operations took place on Tuesday as part of a broader military campaign against armed groups active across multiple regions. The statement emphasized the commitment of Malian forces to continue these operations with “discipline and firmness,” in close coordination with their partners.

The Africa Corps, in a statement shared on X, confirmed the destruction of a substantial number of militant vehicles in the strikes. The group also reported that one of its drones successfully targeted a vehicle transporting ammunition and military supplies.

The Russian Africa Corps highlighted that these operations were part of what it described as “successful joint efforts” with the Malian Armed Forces against regional militant factions. The Corps reiterated its intent to continue targeting militant positions and equipment to degrade their operational capabilities.
