The Club OHADA at the Université Abdou Moumouni in Niamey (Club OHADA UAM) has announced its solemn reopening scheduled for May 22 and 23, 2026. Running from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the event will center on the evocative theme: “OHADA: past, present, and future!”

This academic gathering will coincide with the 8th annual As de la Plaidoirie en Droit OHADA competition. This prestigious contest is designed to foster a deep understanding of OHADA legal culture, enhance judicial eloquence, and encourage scholarly debate regarding the progression of unified business law across Africa.

Key competition topics

  • Preliminary Round: “Is it necessary to redefine business law within the OHADA framework?”
  • Grand Final: “OHADA Law: Business Law or the Law of Economic Activities?”

These subjects highlight current legal discussions concerning the expansion of OHADA’s jurisdiction and the necessity of aligning unified laws with the shifting economic landscapes of Africa and the global market.

Awards and recognition

The organizers have confirmed that the top performer in this pleading competition will be awarded:

  • A professional internship placement;
  • A high-performance laptop;
  • An official trophy of excellence.

Strategic partners

The event is supported by the Commission Nationale OHADA in Niger, UNIDA (via www.ohada.com), and several other academic and institutional organizations. This initiative plays a vital role in Niger’s commitment to promoting African legal integration and making OHADA law more accessible to students, legal practitioners, and researchers.
