Laurent Gbagbo reshapes PPA-CI leadership with new collective direction

Laurent Gbagbo, former President of Côte d’Ivoire and current leader of the Parti des Peuples Africains-Côte d’Ivoire (PPA-CI), announced a sweeping restructuring of his party’s leadership on Monday. Through an official statement, he unveiled the appointment of five new key figures to share strategic responsibilities alongside him, marking a shift toward a more collaborative governance model.

New leadership roles and responsibilities

• Assoa Adou takes on the role of First Vice-President, responsible for party doctrine. He will ensure strict adherence to the party’s statutes and internal regulations, as well as alignment of all party structures with its founding principles and strategic vision.
• Oulaye Hubert, Second Vice-President, will oversee party operations. His mandate includes chairing Central Committee sessions in accordance with the party’s legal framework and leadership directives.
• Ackan Emmanuel, Third Vice-President, is tasked with mobilizing the party’s base. He will spearhead political outreach, strengthen public engagement, and manage institutional relations while aligning with the party’s policy guidelines.
• Justin Koné Katinan, Fourth Vice-President, will steer the party’s policy agenda. He will coordinate policy development, monitor implementation, and lead the drafting of the party’s governance program.
• Sébastien Dano Djedje has been appointed President of the Strategic and Political Council (CSP), where he will exercise general oversight of the party’s activities and guide its political direction.

Vision behind the restructuring

The move reflects Gbagbo’s commitment to fostering a unified and dynamic party structure. In his announcement, he emphasized that the strength of PPA-CI lies not in individual leadership but in collective action and shared purpose among its members.

« This decision to distribute key responsibilities among these leaders underscores our dedication to a collaborative model grounded in complementary roles and unified vision, » Gbagbo stated.

The restructuring initiative was first unveiled during the PPA-CI Renaissance Day celebrations in Songon M’Bratté on May 16, where Gbagbo outlined plans to revitalize the party’s operations, enhance efficiency, and expand its influence.
