Chelsea secures England star Rogers in record-breaking £138m deal

Chelsea Football Club has confirmed the signing of England international Morgan Rogers, bringing one of English football’s most exciting young talents to Stamford Bridge this summer.

The Blues have secured the 23-year-old forward on a long-term deal running until 2033, with the club confirming that he will join manager Xabi Alonso’s squad ahead of the new campaign. The move sees Chelsea outbid rivals Arsenal in a fierce transfer battle for the emerging star.

Rogers arrives at Chelsea having established himself as a key attacking force during his time at Aston Villa. His contributions—40 goals and assists combined across 85 Premier League appearances—were instrumental in guiding the Villans to fourth place in England’s top flight and lifting the Europa League trophy last season.

Since making his England debut in November 2024, Rogers has quickly become a regular starter for the Three Lions, earning 22 caps and featuring prominently at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he helped England secure a third-place finish. The transfer fee, reported to be around £117 million (€138 million), ranks as the second-highest in Premier League history—only surpassed by Alexander Isak’s move from Newcastle to Liverpool last summer for £125 million. The deal underscores Chelsea’s ambition to return to domestic and European contention under Alonso’s leadership.
