Chad studies digital education model in Yaoundé

A high-level delegation from Chad recently concluded a five-day study mission in Yaoundé, focused on leveraging digital education to transform its national schooling system.

mapping digital solutions for Tchad’s education reform

From April 20 to 24, 2026, experts from Chad’s Ministry of National Education and Civic Promotion traveled to Cameroon to examine best practices in integrating Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) into learning systems. This strategic exchange aligns with Chad’s broader modernization agenda, including the 2022–2026 National Development Plan, the Tchad Connexion 2030 digital vision, and the National Teacher Policy.

The mission is part of the School Rebuilding Program of Chad (PRET), supported by the Global Partnership for Education and implemented with technical backing from UNESCO and UNICEF. Its goal is to accelerate progress toward inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education by adopting scalable digital tools suited to Chad’s local realities.

learning from Cameroon’s digital classroom success

Chad’s delegation visited key institutions in Yaoundé, including the Ministry of Basic Education (MINEDUB), to analyze Cameroon’s proven ICT integration model. Discussions covered curriculum design, teacher training frameworks, digital infrastructure deployment, and inter-institutional coordination mechanisms.

Insights were also gathered on low-tech, accessible digital solutions already in use across Cameroon’s formal and non-formal education sectors. These include cloud-based learning platforms, offline content delivery systems, and community-based digital literacy initiatives.

a structured approach to knowledge transfer

The mission combined desk research, stakeholder interviews, field observations, and collaborative workshops. The team assessed transferable practices, identified success factors, and drafted actionable recommendations tailored to Chad’s educational landscape.

Final outputs will include a comprehensive mission report, operational guidelines, and a prioritized action plan to guide Chad’s digital education rollout. These documents will serve as roadmaps for policymakers, school administrators, and development partners working to modernize the country’s classrooms.

strengthening regional cooperation in central africa

This initiative reflects the UNESCO Central Africa Regional Office’s commitment to fostering peer learning and innovation among member states. By facilitating cross-border knowledge exchange, it aims to build resilient education systems capable of adapting to the digital age.

The study mission underscores how regional cooperation can accelerate educational transformation. Through shared expertise and collaborative problem-solving, African nations are better positioned to address common challenges in access, equity, and quality.
