Chad leads digital trade pact to boost central Africa logistics

The National Bureau of Land Freight of Chad (BNFT), alongside freight authorities in Cameroon and the Central African Republic, has formalized a landmark digitalization agreement for Central African trade corridors by 2030.

This groundbreaking pact aims to revolutionize cross-border cargo movement by introducing smarter, more secure, and efficient transit systems through digital process transformation. The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to modernize logistics infrastructure across the region, ensuring seamless commercial exchanges.

Saleh Youssouf Erda, Director-General of the BNFT, emphasized the transformative potential of this initiative in today’s digital-first economy. “This agreement marks a pivotal step toward unified logistics modernization. By integrating digital solutions into transit procedures, we’re not just streamlining operations—we’re safeguarding goods and accelerating trade flows across borders.”

The Central African Republic’s Transport Ministry representative highlighted the pact’s role in cutting red tape. “Digitizing clearance processes will drastically reduce wait times while enhancing cargo security. This framework builds trust and reliability in regional trade, making it a win for all stakeholders.”

The agreement aligns with broader efforts to strengthen Central Africa’s economic integration by creating a more connected, transparent trade network.
