Chad advances digital education with validated national strategy framework

N’Djamena hosted a pivotal national workshop on July 10, 2026, bringing together key stakeholders to validate the ground-level assessment report for what will become Chad’s first-ever National Digital Transformation Strategy for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

The initiative, aligned with the Pan-African Initiative for Digital Transformation of TVET Systems—supported by global partners including UNESCO, the African Union, the African Development Bank, and the UN Economic Commission for Africa—aims to future-proof Chad’s technical and vocational training sector. The preliminary study drew insights from over 200 participants across 57 Technical and Vocational Education and Training Centers (TVETCs), alongside supervisory institutions, through comprehensive field assessments and digital data collection spanning all regional academies.

The opening address, delivered by Dr. Djininboh Gabriel on behalf of the Secretary of State for Higher Education, underscored the critical role of digital innovation in aligning educational systems with evolving technological demands and emerging job markets. He emphasized the government’s commitment to leveraging digital tools as a cornerstone for modernizing TVET infrastructure nationwide.

The diagnostic report highlights both progress and persistent hurdles, including governance gaps, underdeveloped digital infrastructure, inconsistent connectivity, unreliable energy supply, insufficient trainer upskilling, and limited integration of digital literacy into curricula. Participants were urged to refine the document collaboratively to ensure the final strategy is pragmatic, equitable, and reflective of Chad’s unique socio-economic landscape.

With the validated report now serving as the foundation, Chad is poised to finalize its National Digital Transformation Strategy for TVET, complete with a five-year operational action plan (2026–2030). The ultimate goal? A robust, future-ready TVET system that equips learners with the skills demanded by a rapidly evolving job market.
