Romuald Wadagni has been officially sworn in as the new President of the Republic of Bénin, succeeding Patrice Talon in a historic transition.

The ceremony, held at the Palais de la République in La Marina, was marked by a dignified farewell between the outgoing president and his successor. Following the handover, Wadagni took the oath of office before the Constitutional Court in the presence of key political figures and representatives from over a dozen foreign delegations.

In his address, President Wadagni pledged to uphold the Constitution and vowed to face the consequences of any breach of that oath. The event underscored the peaceful transfer of power, a cornerstone of Bénin’s democratic process.

The transition ceremony concluded with a private meeting between the two leaders, symbolizing continuity and stability in the nation’s leadership.
