barcelona poised for major summer move with anthony gordon signing
Anthony Gordon is expected to finalize his contract with FC Barcelona this Friday.

With Robert Lewandowski’s departure, FC Barcelona is swiftly moving to secure his replacement. Reports indicate that the Catalan giants have set their sights on Anthony Gordon.
The Newcastle winger, who also possesses the ability to play centrally, is anticipated to be officially announced by both clubs in the coming days.
An 80 million euro acquisition
FC Barcelona wasted no time after clinching their league title. They have already identified and secured the successor to Robert Lewandowski.
Earlier this week, The Athletic revealed that Barcelona’s management reached an agreement with Newcastle for a substantial fee of 80 million euros, plus performance-related bonuses.
This information was subsequently corroborated by Fabrizio Romano, a leading authority on football transfers.
Furthermore, Barcelona has reportedly already agreed on personal terms for the 25-year-old English international. Gordon has been a long-term target, with his pursuit spearheaded by head coach Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco. Both influential figures are known admirers of the player, who developed at Liverpool, rose to prominence at Everton, and truly excelled at St James’ Park.
Gordon was spotted in Barcelona on Thursday, accompanied by his agents and family, to undergo his mandatory medical examination. As expected, he passed without any issues.
From a sporting perspective, the English forward is coming off an impressive season with Newcastle, having netted 17 goals and provided 5 assists across 46 appearances in all competitions, including 10 goals in 12 Champions League matches.
A distinct profile from Lewandowski
This past season saw Lamine Yamal emerge as the Blaugrana’s top scorer, with Ferran Torres also playing a crucial role in Hansi Flick’s successful campaign.
Despite being 37, Robert Lewandowski still managed a respectable 19 goals in 46 outings. Anthony Gordon, however, offers a different tactical dimension. He is a versatile player capable of operating through the middle, though he is most effective on the left wing, cutting in onto his dominant foot.
The preferred profile for the left flank demands attributes such as blistering pace, direct attacking impetus, and intense pressing capabilities.
The situation surrounding Marcus Rashford remains complicated. Barcelona holds a buy clause of 30 million euros until June 15, a figure lower than Gordon’s transfer fee. However, Rashford’s substantial salary poses a challenge for Joan Laporta’s financial framework.
This does not rule out the possibility of the Manchester United winger playing in Spain next season.
Two primary options are under consideration for Rashford: a renegotiated loan agreement or a permanent transfer with a reduced wage package. Beyond these two English talents, Barcelona is also reportedly monitoring Julian Alvarez. These significant reinforcements aim to solidify their grip on La Liga following their second consecutive title this season.
