southern Cameroon’s dja bridge project nears completion, boosting regional connectivity

As of June 20, 2026, the Dja bridge construction in Southern Cameroon shows significant advancement, with the primary structural supports almost fully realized. Teams from CHINA HARBOUR ENGINEERING COMPANY CAMEROUN are intensifying their efforts to ensure the timely completion of this vital infrastructure.

Construction milestones: supports almost complete, access roads underway

Beyond the impressive progress on the main structure, all supplementary geotechnical investigations have been finalized, and the detailed execution studies have reached 60% completion. Notably, all twenty foundational piles are now in place, marking a critical step forward. The contractor has also initiated significant work on the access road leading from the Bissombo side. This involves the crucial rebarring of the abutments for the culvert at PK 0+669, the careful placement of substitute material following the excavation at the PK 0+818 culvert, and the ongoing crushing of 0/250 aggregates.

This ambitious project entails the construction of a 90-meter bridge and an additional 3 kilometers of essential access roads. Its successful realization is set to play a pivotal role in strengthening the connectivity of the Assok to Ngombo axis, located within the Dja and Lobo department of Cameroon’s Southern region. The estimated total cost for the Dja bridge component, including all taxes, stands at 10,530,686,344 FCFA.

In addition to the main bridge structure, the project incorporates the development of 1,000 meters of access ways, specifically 500 meters on each side of the bridge. These will feature a robust two-lane carriageway, boasting a total width of 7.00 meters, complemented by 1.50-meter wide shoulders finished with a durable double-layer surface dressing. Furthermore, the initiative includes the construction of vital drainage infrastructure, such as two culverts of type 2 x 2.00 x 1.50, two culverts of type 2 x 2.00 x 2.00, and the establishment of an access dike along the riverbanks.
