Senegal’s local elections: Sonko challenges Faye over voting date

During a campaign stop in Louga over the weekend, Sonko leveraged his party’s voter outreach efforts to directly confront the head of state on a critical governance issue.

« Issuing a decree to remove Fadilou Keïta, Waly Diouf Bodiang and others falls within the president’s authority—no one disputes that. But the same decree must set the date for local elections. They are, after all, both matters of executive action, » Sonko declared.
