With a symbolic transition, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has inaugurated a fresh chapter in Senegalese politics. The leader has formally established Kiiraay – Les Patriotes républicains, a new political force set to replace the former Pastef – Les Patriotes led by his former ally, Ousmane Sonko. The name Kiiraay, derived from Wolof, carries deep meaning: it translates to protection, a principle President Faye intends to uphold in every governance decision moving forward.

This move marks a significant shift in the nation’s political landscape, as the head of state redefines his party’s identity while maintaining core values rooted in national service. The inauguration of Kiiraay signals a renewed commitment to the people of Senegal, emphasizing unity and forward-looking leadership.
