Senegal’s Ousmane Sonko issues stern warning to new Prime Minister

As political tensions rise in Senegal, opposition leader Ousmane Sonko has publicly addressed the new Prime Minister, Al Aminou Lo, issuing sharp warnings about his recent statements and conduct.
Addressing journalists on Tuesday, Sonko did not mince words regarding Al Aminou Lo’s declarations, delivering a series of pointed warnings that carried an unmistakable edge.
The former head of government urged the new Prime Minister to adhere strictly to his role as a technocrat. « I advise him to stick to the numbers. He calls himself a technocrat—let him limit himself to technocracy, » Sonko stated.
Political tensions take center stage
Sonko went further, suggesting that the Prime Minister had a hand in the ongoing discord between the Pastef party and the President. « We are fully aware of the role he played in the issues between Pastef and the President. Until now, we have chosen not to disclose all the details. He would do well to calm down, » he cautioned.
The Pastef leader also criticized Al Aminou Lo’s remarks during the announcement of the new cabinet. « Yesterday, during the government’s unveiling, I heard him giving unsolicited advice. Perhaps he should start by applying those lessons to himself, » Sonko remarked.
In a final show of resolve, Sonko hinted at undisclosed information that could reshape the narrative. « We know everything. While we’ve chosen to withhold certain facts, we will not tolerate provocation, » he declared.
