royal air Maroc launches inaugural direct service between casablanca and los angeles
A significant development for air travel: Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has inaugurated its new direct flight connecting Casablanca to Los Angeles this Sunday. This pioneering route marks a historic milestone, establishing the first-ever direct air link between the African continent and the United States’ Pacific coast.
The maiden flight departed from Mohammed V Airport at 04:00, embarking on its non-stop 12-hour journey.
This launch holds particular significance as it coincides with the celebration of two and a half centuries of friendship between Morocco and the United States, and also with the commencement of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Morocco’s national team, the Atlas Lions, will compete.
“The introduction of this route represents a historic achievement for Royal Air Maroc and greatly enhances air connectivity for the entire African continent,” stated Hamid Addou, Chief Executive Officer of RAM. “By bringing Morocco closer to the American West Coast, we reinforce our pivotal role and commitment to elevating Morocco’s presence on the global stage.”

The new service will operate three times per week, utilizing state-of-the-art wide-body aircraft on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Flights are scheduled to depart Casablanca at 04:00, arriving in Los Angeles at 08:20 local time. Return flights will leave California at 10:20, landing in Casablanca the following day at 05:25.
This expansion aligns with the national carrier’s strategic development plan, which was formalized with the government in July 2023. The initiative aims to solidify Casablanca’s position as a vital air hub, bridging Africa, Europe, and the Americas, while simultaneously catering to the strong demand from the Moroccan diaspora, international tourists, business travelers, and football enthusiasts.
With this inauguration, RAM further strengthens its footprint in North America, complementing its existing direct connections to New York, Washington, Miami, Montreal, and Toronto.
