Pdci-rda calls for urgent political dialogue on electoral body in Côte d’Ivoire

Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire – The Democratic Party of Côte d’Ivoire – African Democratic Rally (PDCI-RDA) has unequivocally reiterated its firm position regarding the establishment of a truly consensual electoral body. Brédoumy Soumaïla, the party’s spokesperson, emphasized this stance from Abidjan Cocody, stressing that such a crucial development must emerge from direct political dialogue among key stakeholders, rather than a mere informational briefing.

“The PDCI-RDA has formally approached the government, requesting the immediate commencement of this vital dialogue,” Soumaïla declared during a press conference held at the Party Headquarters. He underscored the lessons learned from the nation’s recent past, stating, “Our collective history teaches us that enduring peace and social cohesion cannot be achieved without comprehensive consultation.” This principle is central to robust African governance and stable African current affairs.

Soumaïla conveyed the party’s disappointment over the head of government’s invitation to political factions for an “information-only” gathering, which he deemed insufficient due to its lack of open exchange. The PDCI-RDA will continue to press for an expanded negotiation framework whenever necessary, ensuring all voices are heard on matters of national importance.

Furthermore, the PDCI-RDA is demanding the revision of the electoral list before the close of 2026, a requirement stipulated by the Electoral Code. Brédoumy highlighted the failure to conduct the scheduled 2025 revision, noting that it was budgeted for and financed by the state, yet no official justification for its omission has been provided. “The government must be held accountable to Ivorian taxpayers for the management of these public funds,” he insisted, advocating for transparency in African governance.

The spokesperson concluded by asserting that the populace is looking to the PDCI-RDA for leadership. “This salvation, through President Cheick Tidjane Thiam, will facilitate the reconquest of state power, dedicated to fostering progress for all and ensuring the well-being of every citizen,” Soumaïla affirmed, outlining the party’s vision for the nation’s future.
