Rabat — The prosecutor general of the King near the Court of Cassation and president of the Public Prosecution, Hicham Balaoui, engaged in a high-level working session in Rabat on July 9 with Ousmane Abderamane Djougourou, inspector general of Chad’s Independent Anti-Corruption Authority. The meeting marked the start of a fact-finding mission aimed at exploring Morocco’s proven approaches in preventing and combating corruption.
Strengthening legal and institutional frameworks against corruption
The session focused on Morocco’s comprehensive anti-corruption framework, with Hicham Balaoui outlining the legal architecture and institutional mechanisms underpinning the country’s strategy. Central to the discussion was the Public Prosecution’s penal policy, which has been instrumental in shaping Morocco’s response to corruption. Delegates also compared best practices from both nations, identifying operational synergies to enhance effectiveness.
Digital tools and citizen engagement in corruption reporting
During the visit, the Chadian delegation examined several initiatives spearheaded by the Public Prosecution, including a dedicated hotline for reporting corruption and embezzlement. Another highlight was the digital platform e-TABLIGH, designed to empower citizens to report suspected corrupt acts securely. The system leverages cutting-edge digital technologies to ensure confidentiality and streamline complaint processing, reflecting Morocco’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
