Rabat recently hosted the significant Morocco-India Economic Forum 2026, an initiative spearheaded by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (CCISRSK). This pivotal event was organized in close collaboration with the Embassy of India in the Kingdom and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
This high-level gathering brought together a substantial Indian delegation, comprising 21 prominent business leaders from key strategic sectors, alongside various Moroccan economic stakeholders. The primary objective was to delve into opportunities for forging enduring partnerships and securing mutually beneficial investments between the two nations.
Strengthening bilateral economic ties
During the forum, Hassan Sakhi, President of the CCISRSK, underscored the profound and enduring friendship between Morocco and India, noting its evolution into a robust, diversified, and continuously expanding economic partnership. He emphasized that the dynamic political relationship between the two countries is clearly reflected in high-level ministerial initiatives and the various memoranda of understanding signed across strategic domains.
Sakhi further highlighted that the presence of such a distinguished Indian business delegation, representing sectors like automotive, agriculture, information technology, healthcare, and energy, serves as a testament to the increasing attention Indian investors are directing towards the promising Moroccan market. He stressed that the momentum of bilateral economic exchange is particularly evident in the growing volume of trade, affirming Morocco’s strong desire to further enhance this dynamic. India, with its significant technological and industrial expertise, is recognized as a crucial trade partner for the Kingdom.
Morocco as a gateway to africa
Mohan Puri, who led the CII delegation, expressed his conviction that both India and Morocco possess the capacity to construct a formidable partnership that could effectively link India, Morocco, and the wider African continent. He lauded Morocco’s considerable potential and capabilities, positioning it as an ideal gateway for African current affairs and economic engagement.
Puri specifically praised the numerous avenues available in Morocco, particularly in burgeoning fields such as renewable energies, green hydrogen, aviation, defense, and digital technologies. He remarked that the Kingdom offers an exemplary platform for companies from both nations to implement a diverse array of projects and collaboratively advance technological development.
Key outcomes and future collaborations
The forum’s proceedings featured an institutional video presentation that showcased the economic strengths and diverse investment opportunities within the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region. Attendees were also presented with a documentary detailing Morocco’s business climate and the latest updates to its investment charter, providing valuable insights for potential investors.
A significant outcome of the forum was the formal signing of a memorandum of understanding. This agreement aims to bolster commercial exchanges, stimulate investments, and foster industrial partnerships specifically between India and the dynamic Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region.
The event concluded with dedicated networking sessions and successful B2B meetings, allowing delegates from both sides to engage directly, explore specific collaboration prospects, and lay the groundwork for future ventures, reinforcing the strategic Morocco India economic forum’s impact.
