Morocco and Colombia unite to advance UN peacekeeping missions
The Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Colombia have reaffirmed their dedication to deepening collaboration between the UN Peacebuilding Commission and the Security Council. This joint commitment aims to prioritize peacekeeping as a central pillar of the United Nations’ global agenda.
During a courtesy visit in New York on June 3rd, Omar Hilale, Morocco’s Permanent Representative to the UN and current Chair of the UN Peacebuilding Commission, welcomed Leonor Zalabata Torres, Colombia’s Ambassador to the UN and President of the UN Security Council for June 2026. The meeting underscored the shared vision of both nations in reinforcing international stability through multilateral diplomacy.
The discussions highlighted key strategies to enhance coordination between peacebuilding initiatives and security measures, ensuring sustainable conflict resolution and post-conflict recovery. Both diplomats emphasized the importance of inclusive dialogue and collective action in addressing global peace challenges.
