High-level military discussions unfolded in Nouakchott as General Mohammed Berrid, Morocco’s Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Zone, met with Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghezouani. The encounter took place on Tuesday, with Morocco’s Ambassador to Mauritania, Hamid Chabar, in attendance.
Later in the day, General Berrid visited the Ministry of Defense headquarters, where he received the Commander grade of the National Order of Merit from Mauritanian Defense Minister Hanana Ould Sidi. The award was presented on behalf of President Ould Cheikh El Ghezouani.
Following these engagements, the Moroccan Inspector General and Mauritania’s Chief of Staff jointly led the sixth session of the Mixed Military Commission. Participants highlighted the remarkable progress in military cooperation between the two nations, describing it as a benchmark for strategic partnerships in the region.
