Mali: Touareg forces take over Kidal after Africa Corps retreat

The stage was set for a calculated triumph. In countless videos circulating across social media, Tuareg fighters from the Azawad Liberation Front (FLA) or the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM) are seen parading on abandoned Russian-made armored trucks left behind by fleeing mercenaries. Two days after the capture of Kidal in northern Mali, the 400 paramilitaries of Africa Corps (formerly Wagner) evacuated the city under escort. The FLA announced on platform X the finalization of an «agreement between Azawad forces and elements of Africa Corps to ensure their secure withdrawal» from Kidal.
