Le Mans promoted to Ligue 1 as Bastia relegated to Ligue 3
The LFP disciplinary committee has officially validated Le Mans’ 2-0 win at Bastia, confirming the club’s promotion to Ligue 1 while Bastia faces relegation to Ligue 3.
The LFP disciplinary committee met Wednesday evening to finalize the outcome of the tense Bastia-Le Mans match from the 34th round of Ligue 2. The meeting followed an early abandonment of the game, as referee Ruddy Buquet halted play in the final seconds after repeated incidents in the stands.
Disciplinary measures against Bastia
While Bastia avoids a point deduction—due to no players being directly affected by the incidents—the club faces two closed-doors matches and one suspended game. The disciplinary body spared Bastia from further sanctions despite a history of crowd troubles, including a previous match abandonment in December after a flare was thrown onto the pitch.
«In principle, a point is deducted when a match participant is hit, but in this case, no one was struck. Therefore, we saw no grounds to revoke the suspended sanction.» stated Sébastien Deneux, president of the LFP disciplinary committee.

- Le Mans secures promotion to Ligue 1 after a 2-0 away win at Bastia.
- Bastia drops to Ligue 3, the new third-tier professional division.
