In a strategic move to reinforce collective governance, former Côte d’Ivoire President Laurent Gbagbo, current leader of the Parti des Peuples Africains-Côte d’Ivoire (PPA-CI), has delegated key presidential duties to five senior party officials. This reorganization underscores a commitment to shared leadership and institutional cohesion.
New leadership roles unveiled
The announcement, detailed in an official PPA-CI communiqué, outlines a structured delegation of responsibilities designed to enhance operational efficiency. Assoa Adou has been appointed First Vice-President, entrusted with upholding party statutes and bylaws across all structures. Hubert Oulaye assumes the role of Second Vice-President, overseeing party governance and presiding over Central Committee meetings.
Dano Djédjé Sébastien takes charge as Chair of the Strategic and Political Council, with authority over general management and party oversight. These appointments reflect a deliberate shift toward a more collaborative leadership model, as articulated by Gbagbo himself.
Vision behind the restructuring
Gbagbo emphasized that this delegation is rooted in the belief that a party’s strength lies not in individual leadership but in the synergy of its leadership team and grassroots activists. ‘This division of responsibilities demonstrates our commitment to a collegial approach, where complementary roles and unified action drive progress.’
He further stressed the importance of unity, discipline, and collaborative effort in overcoming challenges and advancing the party’s mission. ‘Together, we can tackle adversity and serve the Ivorian people more effectively.’
